AWESOME Wine Closeout (Adobe Road!)

A couple times a year Pinnacle Imports (out of St. Louis, MO) posts a super-hot closeout list for some of their high-end wines that they need to move to make room for new suppliers, new vintages, etc. The list is posted simultaneously to every buyer in MO and it’s something like a virtual fistfight to get your order/wish-list sent in for the items you want before someone else gets them. I’m incredibly pleased to be able to announce that we snagged 6 bottles each of three different wines from the rarely-seen Adobe Road winery at absolutely killer closeout prices. Check ’em out!!

Never heard of Adobe Road? That’s not surprising, as these wines are rarely seen out in the market. Here’s a bit about who they are.

“Kevin Buckler likes to build things.  A successful entrepreneur and professional driver, Kevin is the owner and founder of The Racers Group (TRG), TRG-Aston Martin Racing and Adobe Road Winery. As a driver and owner, Kevin’s accomplishments include one overall win and 4 class wins at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, a win at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the title of 2002 Porsche World Cup Champion, as well as wins at most of the major motorsports circuits in North America. Kevin balances this love of speed with another driving passion—wine. Kevin takes the same painstaking preparation and attention to detail used in his auto racing ventures and applies it to the careful and meticulous crafting of his Adobe Road wines. With his wine team, he spends countless hours in the vineyard and the winery to create elegant, balanced wines with intense fruit and great regional character. He participates in all final winemaking decisions and is frequently seen with a row of sample glasses on his desk. Over the past decade, Kevin has transformed a corner of Petaluma into a state-of-the-art winemaking facility. As you can imagine, the facility has a complete collection of the latest equipment—everything the team needs. That’s Kevin’s philosophy—source the best grapes, hire the right people, and give them everything they need to succeed.”

2018 Knights Valley “Bavarian Lion Vineyard” Cabernet-“Dark cherries, ripe black fig, violets, and wet stone all lead off the aromas of this powerful Cabernet. Dense, round tannins frame fresh blackberry, anise, and graphite on the palate. Delicious now, and will age gracefully for at least a decade.”

$44.99/bottle on closeout (you save $30.00/bottle, though it’s often even higher online!)

2019 Petaluma Gap “Sangiacomo Vineyards” Roberts Road Chardonnay-“The 2019 Robert’s road Chardonnay is full of stone fruit character. Ripe peaches and nectarines lead the way into baking spice, creamy mouthfeel, and bright freshness.”

$27.99/bottle on closeout (you save $22.00/bottle, though it’s often even higher online!)

2018 Petaluma Gap “Griffin’s Lair Vineyard” Pinot Noir-“Wild raspberry and strawberries on the nose. Creamy vanilla on the palate supported by light tannins. Buckets of fresh fruit here!”

$37.99/bottle on closeout (you save $32.00/bottle, though it’s often even higher online!)

Full disclosure, I haven’t gotten to try any of these wines yet (they’re tiny production and we only were able to snag six bottles of each), but while the newly-founded winery got off to a rocky start with the critics in the early 2002s, since bringing on Garrett Smith as winemaker, the wines have dramatically improved and are now scoring quite well with the major critics (though these vintages have not yet been rated).

You won’t find these anywhere else locally, and the savings are phenomenal, so if you’re looking for something a bit off the beaten path, check out these bottles on our “Dan’s Crazy Closeouts” display right across from the register here in Wine and Spirits and pick up something fun to enjoy this weekend!

Sincerely,

Dan
