Il Bastardo!! It’s Italian, it means…well…you know. I don’t know why they named it as they did (though I have a guess) but it’s inexpensive, and it’s good!

This wine is 100% Sangiovese from a winery located in the Chianti Ruffina region, but the wine itself is not Chianti, as some of the grapes are sourced from outside the Chianti DOC zone (which is why, I’m guessing, they chose the name Il Bastardo). It’s really sort of like a ‘baby’ Chianti.

What it is, is pure Sangiovese pleasure. Aromas of tart cherry, earth, and very subtle notes of that wonderful “sun-baked terracotta pot” thing I get with some of my favorite Chiantis, with fresh, vibrant, juicy red fruit and berry flavors. It’s simple and straightforward, but delicious. At this price, with that Fuel Saver, it’s a killer “pizza and pasta” wine. Why not give it a try?
$11.99/bottle with a $.25 Fuel Saver!!
Cheers,
Dan
