Super-Allocated Bourbon and Rye Whiskies

These came in today unexpectedly, and we’re super-excited! Check ’em out!

Barrell Bourbon “New Year” 2023 Cask Strength

“In the whiskey industry, the past is always with you. But we’ve set ourselves apart by always keeping one eye on the future. Maybe that’s why we love celebrating the New Year so much. Each autumn, we create a very special blend of bourbons as a toast to the new beginnings and fresh energy of the year to come. Making New Year Bourbon gives us an opportunity to see the pillars of our brand through clear eyes, celebrate the inherent creativity of our blending process, and rededicate ourselves to our forward-thinking, quality-driven line of spirits. Released at the beginning of December, Barrell New Year Bourbon 2023 is a tribute to the optimism that every new year brings. ”

Stellum “The Lone Cypress” Rye and “Hunter’s Moon” Bourbon

So, so many of y’all have been coming in and commenting how much value the Stellum lines offer, from their entry-level, “standard” bourbon and rye to their amazing barrel-picks. Just like their stablemate brand (Barrell), these guys are master blenders! A minute amount of these whiskies (12 bottles each, I believe) made it to the center of the state, and we got two of each.

Stellum Black Rye “The Lone Cypress”-“This savory and delicate rye blend is defined by notes of dried herbs and pine, with a hint of salt-air salinity. It’s named for one of the world’s most famous trees, found on the picturesque coast of the Monterey Peninsula.”

  • Nose: “Soft aromas of cedar and a buckwheat honey sweetness. Slight notes of burnt orange peels and an apricot kernel-like nuttiness. Lingering pleasant spices like toasted allspice and peppercorns.”
  • Palate: “Soft aromas of cedar and a buckwheat honey sweetness. Slight notes of burnt orange peels and an apricot kernel-like nuttiness. Lingering pleasant spices like toasted allspice and peppercorns.”
  • Finish: “On the exhale, there are faint flavors of chamomile tea and more baked goods like an apple cider donut. The orchard fruit flavors persist and become jammy.”

$104.99/bottle (we only received two bottles!)

Stellum Black Bourbon “Hunter’s Moon”-“This warm, oak driven bourbon is made in preparation for winter, inspired by the Hunter’s Moon of October. It is marked by a high rye spice and a robust woodiness meant for the time of year when days get shorter and the nights get longer.”

  • Nose: “Very warm, rounded vanilla and butterscotch aromas initially, giving way to honeysuckle and ripened mango.”
  • Palate: “Bright cinnamon at first, leading into flamed orange peel, then savory, earthy notes of black plum and petrichor.”
  • Finish: “Bright cinnamon at first, leading into flamed orange peel, then savory, earthy notes of black plum and petrichor.”
