So excited to get these in this week, just in time for the Holidays, even if it’s gonna be a bit milder this week than last. Check these out!
Wiseacre Strizzle Bier IPA-“Long ago, cool winter’s eve we first basked,in starlight of rich amber malt. And so we were thus tasked, to quicken our recipe vault. Strizzle’s flavor inspires, sticky hops and hot buns. Warm hands close to the fires, wintry mix fun. Striezelmarkt brings title to our beer, the original holiday shop. From 1434 in Dresden year, a bright piney aroma will pop. Set adrift on memory bliss, pfefferkuchen, nussknackers, and this. Lavish IPA brings forth jubilation, hoppy time, fizzy pop, refreshment elation. 6.2 % abv.” This pours a deep, ruddy orange-amber with a creamy pale beige cap. The nose is citrusy (candied orange) and piney, with plenty of resin. On the palate, there’s lots of bright citrus, with some pineapple, plentiful bitter resin, and a bit of pine, alongside a subtle toasty, sweet, biscuity malt character with a hint of caramel. The sweet malt almost (but not quite) balances the bitterness. This is a very nice red IPA, perfect for colder weather.

Brooklyn Winter IPA-“Cold weather calls for thick knit hats, swift sleds, and Brooklyn Winter IPA. This classic IPA layers Simcoe and Trident hops for notes of dark fruit, blood orange, and bright, frosty juniper and pine aromas. A touch of rye spice notes warm the finish to keep you cozy to the core. Stock up and enjoy the flurries while they last.” This 7% abv red IPA pours a just off-bright deep burnt orange hue with a creamy pale beige cap. The nose is substantially less fruity, substantially more biscuity, and more herbal and piney than the Strizzle Bier. On the palate, this is quite spicy, dry, and grainy, with a fruity (but not particularly citrusy) herbal/piney hop character. Almost like caraway-spiced rye bread with a delightful kick of juniper. A very different winter red IPA from the Wiseacre offering.

Brewdog “It’s A Beaut” Pecan and Toffee Stout-“We’ve teamed up with National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation to bring you It’s a Beaut Pecan & Toffee Stout. Ringing in at a 7.5% ABV, this rich and decadent stout combines sweet toffee flavors, roasted cacao and hints of vanilla. Dare we say it; we’ve captured Christmas in a can. It may not be the gift that keeps on giving the whole year, but we can guarantee that your 6-pack won’t arrive meowing.” This pours a deep brown (black in the glass) with a khaki head. The nose is sweet, nutty, toasty, and utterly beguiling. On the palate, this is quite sweet, with fruity, nutty, and plentiful cocoa notes, along with just a bit of crunchy butter toffee. A dessert stout that will appeal especially to fans of National Lampoon’s!
