Well, we told you we had something fun coming up, and we can finally announce it! On Thursday, November 17th, from 6:00PM to 8:30PM, your friendly Rockbridge Hy-Vee will be hosting the areas very first Whiskey University class. We’ve been trying to set something up with these guys for some time now, and the pieces finally fell into line, so we’re excited to announce the beginning of the series with their most popular class nationwide: Bourbon 201.
For those of you who haven’t heard of the organization, here’s their official mission statement: “At Whiskey University, our sole mission is to educate the public about the history and virtues of Bourbon, Tennessee Whiskey and other various North American Whiskeys.” They teach courses across the US, at country clubs, high-end restaurants and bars, distilleries, casinos, you name it. Their certified instructors are highly-educated and trained to ensure that each class is not only instructive, but also a ton of fun. Whether you’re a dyed-in-the-wool bourbon drinker or a relative newbie to the world of all things bourbon, you’re sure to enjoy this class.
And here’s the best part…while we had to start with Whiskey 101 (we thought this might be slightly rudimentary for some of you who’d want to attend) or Bourbon 201, they offer an exhaustive course catalog (with over 100 classes) that can be seen here. Once we get the ball rolling, the sky’s the limit in terms of what we can do with these guys!
Our local instructor is Brad Martens, a leader in the University of Missouri Healthcare system, working in Radiology and Orthopedics, and an all around great guy. He’s super-passionate about whiskey in general, and the education piece specifically, so it should be a good time. Ok, so the details…

- We’ll break about halfway through for snacks (all scratch-made, just for you!)
